1. Privacy Policy (Restricted & Apple-Compliant)

Overview

Guardian Drive is for teen safety and distractive driving not monitoring tool. We utilize Apple’s FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, and DeviceActivity frameworks to provide parental oversight without compromising the child’s personal data privacy.

Data Collection & Usage

App Usage Data: We do not collect, store, or transmit any data regarding specific apps used by the child, browsing history, or screen content to our servers. All app shielding and activity monitoring are processed locally on the device. We only receive high-level tokens to enforce restrictions.

Location & Speed: To provide real-time tracking and overspeed alerts, we collect GPS and speed data. This is used solely for the Parent Dashboard and is never shared with third parties.

Seamless & Secure Access: To ensure the highest level of security for parental accounts, we utilize Single Sign-On (SSO) and Social Login (e.g., Sign in with Apple, Google).

Verification: We use OTP (One-Time Password) via SMS or Email to verify identity. We do not store your social media passwords.

Data Security

End-to-End Encryption: Your authentication tokens and session data are stored using end-to-end encryption to prevent unauthorized access to your family’s safety dashboard.

No Server Logging: Child app activity is never logged to a central server.

Data Retention & Deletion

Operational Logs: Location data is retained only as long as necessary for parent-side trip tracking.

Account Life-Cycle: Your account data, including linked SSO identifiers, is maintained until you choose to delete your account. Upon deletion, all authentication tokens and child safety logs are permanently purged from our servers.

2. In-App Purchase (IAP) Policy

Subscriptions & Billing

Guardian Drive offers premium features (such as Multi-Child Support for up to 4 devices and Geofencing) through auto-renewable subscriptions.

Universal Access: Your subscription is tied to your Social Account. Once you upgrade to Premium (supporting up to 4 children), your status is synced across all your devices where you log in.

Billing & Renewals: Subscriptions are processed securely via the Apple App Store.

Payment will be charged to your iTunes Account at confirmation.

Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled 24 hours before the period ends.

Privacy in Billing: We do not store your credit card or billing information on our servers; all financial transactions are handled exclusively by Apple.

Family Sharing

In accordance with Apple’s policies, our subscription supports Family Sharing, allowing one “Parent” subscription to cover up to 4 child devices under the same household.

Refunds

All In-App Purchases are processed through the Apple App Store. For refund requests, please refer to Apple’s official support channels. Guardian Drive does not directly manage billing or issue refunds.

💡 Critical Tips for your Apple Resubmission:

  • The “Safety” Pivot: In your App Store Connect description, emphasize that the app is a safety tool, not a “monitoring” tool. Apple dislikes the term “monitor” when applied to children; they prefer “protection” or “shielding.”
  • PIA Reference: In your communication with the reviewer, mention: “A Privacy Impact Assessment was conducted to ensure that all ManagedSettings data remains on-device and that no sensitive app usage logs are transmitted to our servers.”
  • App Store Privacy Labels: When filling out the “App Privacy” section in App Store Connect, ensure you mark “Usage Data” as “Not Collected” if you are truly only using the local API tokens. If you mark it as “Collected,” you will get another rejection.
