1. Android-Specific Privacy Policy

Effective Date: March 2026

1. Transparency & Child Safety

Guardian Drive is designed to reduce distracted driving. We use Android’s Usage Stats API and Background Location Services solely to provide safety features.

2. Permissions & Data Usage

App Blocking & Usage Stats: We use Android permissions to detect when the device is in motion (>15 MPH). While we “see” app activity locally to apply blocks, no specific app usage logs, timestamps, or app names are uploaded to our servers.

Background Location: This app collects location data to enable Real-time Tracking, Trip Logs, and Geofencing even when the app is closed or not in use. This data is encrypted and accessible only to the linked Parent account.

GPS Tampering Protection: We monitor GPS status to alert parents of tampering. We do not use screenshots or screen recording for this purpose.

3. Secure Authentication (SSO & OTP)

Login: We support Google Sign-In (SSO) and OTP-based verification (SMS/Email).

Data Security: We only request your basic profile (Email/Name). We do not access your contacts or external social data. All “risky” data and passwords are protected via End-to-End Encryption.

4. Data Retention & Deletion

Location Data: Stored for parent-side history and deleted upon account termination.

User Control: You can request full data deletion through the “Account Settings” in the Parent App. All data is purged within 30 days of the request.

2. Google Play Billing (IAP) Policy

1. Subscriptions

Guardian Drive Premium (supporting up to 4 child devices) is billed through Google Play Billing.

Payment: Charged to your Google Account at confirmation.

Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled in the Google Play Store > Subscriptions menu at least 24 hours before the current period ends.

2. Multi-Device Sync

Your subscription is linked to your SSO/Google Identity. Simply log in with the same account on any Android device to restore your Parent Dashboard and linked child profiles.

3. Refund Policy

All transactions are handled by Google Play. Users may request refunds directly through the Google Play Store interface according to Google’s standard 48-hour refund policy.

⚠️ Critical “Data Safety” Checklist for Android

When you upload your app to the Google Play Console, you must complete the Data Safety Form. Based on your requirements, here is how you should answer:

  • Is data shared with 3rd parties? * NO. (Assuming you don’t use ads or 3rd party analytics like Facebook).
  • Is data encrypted in transit? * YES. (This is a requirement for all safety apps).
  • Location Data Disclosure: * Google requires a Prominent Disclosure inside the app before the child/parent accepts location permissions. It must say: “This app collects location data to enable driving speed monitoring and geofence alerts even when the app is closed.”
  • Account Deletion: * You must provide a link inside the app and on your website for users to delete their account and all associated data. Google will reject the app if this link is missing.

Note:  Phone numbers collected for SMS are not shared or sold to third parties for marketing purposes
